Ireland residents must contact the Embassy of Switzerland in Dublin / competent Swiss representation for the national visa procedure; the file is ultimately decided by the cantonal migration authority of the intended place of residence in Switzerland.

Since 1 July 2025 Swiss Type C from Ireland is handled under representation by the Austrian Embassy Dublin via VFS Global. Service €29. Type D €90 adult (CHF 88 equiv). Schengen but not EU. Also covers Liechtenstein.

Alternatively a host's declaration of liability (Verpflichtungserklaerung) set as an irrecoverable liability of CHF 30,000. EUR equivalent approx at ~1.07 EUR/CHF.
